Due to the outsourcing of experts from the electrical companies, preservation of knowledge and expertise is the key activity of the association The Memorandum of understanding with Eurelectric and the Memorandum of understanding with Ampere Europe Ltd. underline the mutual benefit of cooperation, giving audience and sustainability to long term actions with regard to the defence and wise use of electrical energy for all applications.
After the 2004-UIE conference, hosted by ESKOM, South-Africa, UIE laid first contacts of co-operation with UPDEA, Union of Producers and Distributors of Electrical Energy in Africa (French and English speaking countries). A memorandum of Understanding is currently in discussion. In November 2004 we started co-operation with AICHe, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, US, on the possibilities of electroheat in the semi-conductor industry. The UIE-activities are embedded within the 4th World Congress on Microwave and Radio Frequency Applications. A round table on the aspects a decision maker should take into account is organised with representatives from Europe, Japan and US (including non-technical items such as directives). Read more on how to use the political framework as evolved from the Kyoto agreement in K. Van Reusel, M.Machiels, R. Belmans,"Up to Date Arguments for Selling Electrotechnologies in Europe" [PDF].
A search for co-operation with the new countries of the enlarged European Community is started. A "International Observatory on the electrical safety of installations" will be started under the umbrella of FISUEL, Fédération Internationale pour la sécurité des usagers de l'électricité, at the end of 2004. UIE will provide the academic and scientific content through her web of contacts with universities.
The next UIE conference will be organized in Krakow, Poland, in May 2008. |
