The Study Committees (or Working Groups) are set up by the Directing Committee to deal with topics selected by the UIE members. The missions of these study committees are, each in its area, to:
  • monitor scientific, technical and informative development and collect data.
  • encourage investigation and exchange of information and experience
  • assemble knowledge and know-how and organise their dissemination in a suitable form.
At present, there are three active Working Groups:
ELECTRICITY APPLICATIONS
Working Group 1

Activities in 2006:
Links with Eurelectric WG 'Preservation of Resources"
Links with DG-ENV (electrical end-user and environment)
Links with DG-TREN on BAT (Best Available Techniques) and BREF (Best available techniques references sheets)
Preparation of the road-show for awareness by political decision leaders of the solutions proposed by the electrical world (Kyoto, CO², efficiencies)
Defence of mass market electrical products: e.g. comfort at home
Possibilities of substitution of energies (bi-energy) as suggested by the CEREN-study
